Bet this has never happened before:
Even though it was just a Spring Training game, THIS, IMO, is worth noting:
Leading off the bottom of the 1st inning was Jackson Holliday, 2022's No.1 overall Draft Pick. He faced Paul Skenes, 2023's No.1 overall Draft Pick. AND...after retiring Holliday, Skenes faced Adley Rutschman, 2019's No.1 overall Draft Pick! ESPN's article was all over this matchup, but what they did not mention was.... Skenes battery mate was...you guessed it, Henry Davis, who was 2021's No.1 overall Draft Pick!! WOW! Tim Kurkjian frequently says one of the reasons he loved Baseball so much is that anytime something may occur that has never happened before. . |
"Spring Training is all about potential" :D
That is an impressive collection of #1 overall picks, and I suspect you're right that it's never happened before. |
Skenes is interesting because he is also a pitcher. We could have another Shohei soon.

No. He only pitches. There's still only one unicorn. |
