Sorry Master Set Collectors :-) is this another variation to chase or just a missing ink pass? Here is a Blue (Green) Johnson :-) do we consider this a new variation or just a print error :-(

I think we only have 2 true variations of the Hassan 30 no series notation Johnson - the Glove up (from series 1 production) and the glove down (from early series 2 production).
Pretty much all of the cards can be found in this 'bluer' toning, that makes the background looks much darker and leaves traces of blue in the athletes skin. Here's some examples. Manley is an exact match of this type, there is clearly blue in his skin where there should not be blue. Hurley shows a similar affect, and shows how much cards could vary. This blue toning happens in most T sets, in Goudey's, perhaps most clearly in 60's Topps cards. It is definitely more common in series 1, and most noticeable generally in green backed pictures. |
whew!
good deal, thanks for that G! don't want to open up another can of worms and have to bite the bullet for ANother Johnson! ;lol....
good stuff, thanks for the info, cool card nonetheless! TTYL! |

It's been a bit since I posted here at Net54, but I've been working on a Johnson t218/t219 adback run for a while. What is the likelihood another Red Cross Jack Johnson becomes available? Any idea how many copies are out there?

Red Cross backs are hens teeth; truly rare. You probably won’t see one for sale until after an old collector croaks.
|
One should be up for sale very very shortly but I’m not confident I will be able to justify that spend myself :).
|
lol, wow it just went up on ebay. talk about speaking things into existence. $8500
|
The positive of the chosen prices is that I don't have to break out my wallet :).
