There are always folks with lots of money, and no sense.

I heard a story about some guy who took out a personal ad in the back of Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970s, "Last chance to send $5 to...", with a PO box address. Thousands did so.

I would guess the number at least in the hundreds, of people who have bought things like that over the years.

Reminds me of the early days of bitcoin, there was a QR code on a sign at a football game to send them bitcoins for being fans of the team. That guy probably made a killing.

Well at least it's clearly labeled in the title and not the typical ambiguous "found in an attic I think It's good" or "Bought at an estate sale with a bunch of other old stuff so it must be old" BS

Aged 1933 Goudey #144 Ruth

I posted a couple 1933 Goudey REPRINTS and listed plainly as REPRINTS on eBay a few years ago. Had several messages asking how did I know they were reprints, are you sure they aren't authentic, they might be real, and so on and so on-- they were cool aged REPRINTS but I would reply they aren't real but REPRINTS - if I remember SOLD for around 100-150 each--I guess buyers always rolling the dice hoping!

Number 1 rule of collecting. If the seller says the card isn't real, believe them!

What if it's an unknown dealer at a show, and they wave their hand over the showcase whilst declaring that the pieces aren't real?
