Coarse stock 1969 Topps Deckle Edge?
2 Attachment(s)
Does anybody know of 2 wildly different stocks in this set? I have one card that has no gloss at all, but on top of the gloss issue really seems to be a completely different stock on both front and back. There is no smoothness, it's a very coarse and bumpy stock on both sides, unlike the smoothness of all the other cards in this series I've handled. The back is much less white, more creamy than all the other cards I have.
The pics are from angles under the light to try and capture the feel and look difference when handling. Both cards are of the Topps variety; correct size, blue signatures, Topps back captions instead of the O-Pee-Chee characteristics. The unusual stock card is the one on the left |
I have a full set of these; raw and not mint by any stretch. I have both, some smooth, some coarse.

Is the back blank? Might be the Canada issued OPC version.

Personally, I really love this little set and their cheap availability. I'd love an excuse to build another set if I can figure out how to tell these coarser versions apart readily in scans online... |

Checked my set, all white and glossy

If Al doesn't have any exemplars of a Topps card, they must not be that easy :). Thanks for checking your sets, gents.

Mine are all smooth and glossy.

I know nothing about the set but it looks like a card that has been wet or soaked badly.

That’s what I was thinking, got severely wet and since they aren’t like a true cardboard stock when they dried it ruined the glossy fronts?
