PSA Authentication for Traced Autograph?

I have a vintage autographed Topps card. I believe it to be an authentic autograph. The problem is that it appears that the signature may be traced over. Assuming the autograph is authentic, will PSA encapsulate and authenticate a traced autograph?

It’s possible. A photo of the card would be helpful, if you have one.

Not likely they would encapsulate it.

They do authenticate traced autographs with a full LOA and state in the letter that the underlying authentic autograph has been enhanced by an unknown hand.

They would not likely put that information on an encapsulated flip but you would have to check with them to be certain.

I have never seen an encapsulated autograph with that designation.

Yeah I haven't seen it on a flip but have seen plenty of letters noting enhancement or inscriptions in unknown hands.

I know generally speaking TPGs are unlikely to grade an authentic card with an inauthentic autograph on it. They typically won't even authenticate the card itself.

Here is a sample of a PSA authentication letter, a 1968 Bears autographed football, where someone traced over Gale Sayers autograph. The main autograph on the football is Brian Piccolo.

I have no idea what they would do with a traced over card, but would doubt they would authenticate the autograph. Good Luck.

Here is the autograph in question. Traced? Thanks, everyone, for your feedback!

I doubt PSA (or Beckett) would slab it. It's a very nice card and you should consider subbing to JSA for a full letter (like what was posted above) if you're trying to sell it.

If you go that route, would recommend having them put the sticker on the LOA instead of the back of the card.

Definitely enhanced. Not worth the cost to authenticate IMO even if you get a letter on it stating that fact.

Thank you for your help, everyone. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I’m attempting to get a refund from the seller, who has been very difficult to deal with, but is agreeing to refund me. Fingers crossed.
