Saturday Trivia: "Triple" Threats
Name the four players who hit the most triples in a season in MLB history (all-time, any season by any player) while appearing in at least one game at the shortstop position in that same season.
|
Honus Wagner and Bobby Wallace might be on the list.

George Davis is #1 on the list, having hit 27 triples for the Giants in 1893. It's also #7 on the all-time list for players at any position. #2 is harder but I think someone can get it. #3 and #4 are more tricky... |
Bobby, I'll take a couple of wild guesses.
Would George Brett or Willie Wilson be one of the answers? |

Not the guys I'm looking for. Wilson's career high was 21, and Brett's was 20. Hint: Player #2 on the list played only at shortstop the year he accomplished this. He also had two future HOF pitchers as teammates. |
This one popped into my head because I know he hit a lot of triples, I just hope he played a game at shortstop. Sam Crawford? ETA: probably not, he was left handed.

Hint #2: The teams that these players played for in the season they accomplished this feat are: Player #2: Cleveland Spiders Player #3a: Washington Senators Player #3b: New York Highlanders |
