SGC 10 Lajoie from 1913 (Pop 1) :)
2 Attachment(s)
Should have this back Friday after Turkey Day from SGC!
A bit surprised to check the pop report and see that it stands alone as Pop 1 with only 5 SGC 9s to date! 61 of them graded by SGC so far! Very cool! Attachment 598167 Attachment 598168 |
That's a beauty congratulations. Rare to see a 10 even on the playing cards.
If I had submitted it they would have knocked it down three grades for the print or stray marks at the bottom of the reverse. :) |

Happy Turkey Day as well! |
Mike I've had multiple PSA-10's of the Lajoie game card
The entire deck that I bought is just l Lajoie's & all were nice There's the Red & also a Blue variation. Keep in mind SGC's pop report is ONLY for the newer grading scale of 1 to 10 The other cards graded prior SGC 10-100 is no longer viewable So perhaps there was some 98's or even 100 Here's a scan of 1 of my PSA-10's https://qualitycards.com/pictures/31381258.jpg |
Just checked PSA's pop report & they have graded 68 PSA-10's

......
Thanks Jay! Appreciate the info!

Definitely a card that is frequently seen in nicer condition like yours (which is in top notch grade - not an official grading company designation, but still valid in my opinion).
It is likely neither company has graded ones that are both 1)in such low condition, and 2)were rescued out of a dumpster (but not by me) like the ones seen below. Brian |

When it comes to these old grading amounts, no 100/10's are shown for this set in any of the 4 listings (tint not identified, blue, red and red tint) For the listing that does not identify tint, 295 total cards graded are shown, and there are 33 98/10 cards, 1 97/9.5, and 87 96/9. For the 'blue' listing, 23 total graded, the highest graded is 88/8 at 4 cards For the 'red' listing, 61 total graded, and there is 1 98/10 card, and 5 96/9. For the 'red tint' listing (probably a short term identifier on labels), there are only 2 total graded, both at 88/8 level. Brian |

Its not unusual to get higher grades on the baseball game cards, be it the Parker Bros. Lajoie, the 1936 S&S & so on. Reason being, the cards were made w/ pre rounded corners If they had square corners, the PSA-10 SGC-98's would be much less Here's an example of a 1884 Lawson's Game card I had that landed a "10" https://qualitycards.com/pictures/15373753.jpg |

Maybe you were confused - you can toggle between looking at their old scale (10-100) or their new scale (1-10) |
