Type 1 Photo Storage/Display
 

I have found myself really getting into Type 1 photos lately. As I start to build my Type 1 PC, I was wondering the best way to store them and display.

I have been using toploaders, but I see there are photo one-touches, screw downs, binder pages, and more. Curious how everyone stores them and even displays!

Not really a wrong answer (except putting them in direct sunlight lol). I have many in top loaders, many in pages/binders, and some framed and hanging on the wall.

What kind of binders do you use?

I've thought about getting better albums w/ slip cases like Archival Methods or whatever, but honestly most my stuff is just in typical Ultra Pro binders. I also put some in sleeves (especially larger photos) and then put them in art portfolio binders. I guess I'm all over the place...

I took doug.goodman's recommendation and use Itoya Art Folios. I've been using them for my photos, M114s and other large supplements.

I love them. Photos are protected and look great against the black background.

I like to be able to see the back of my old photos, especially when they have newspaper clippings attached matching the photos. These float frames from Michael’s have been on sale buy one get two free.

Oh those are nice! I do like them against the black.

I agree about seeing the backs! How do they stay up inside the frame and not drop to the bottom?

They press glass on glass.

i use 4 mil mylars from BCEMylar with 3 holes punched in the side (product #63B) and store them in all-polypro 1.5" 3-ring binders made by UniKeep. Mylar is the Library of Congress-recommended material for archival storage and the pages are crystal clear and stand up well to viewing. I don't display originals; too much potential for light damage.
