First SGC Results Are In
 

Sent some fun cards in to give them a try. I really enjoy how the slab up odd sized cards. These are the baseball cards I sent. Happy with grades for all and not just Authentic.

Some nice looking cards. What am I missing about the Mantle that it only got a 1?

Yeah, front is great on Mick. The back was used by a previous owner as blank paper I guess.

1 still seems too low on that to me.

It’s the great debate! How much should back damage factor into the grade? I’m not sure that I have a strong opinion personally, as long as the graders are reasonably consistent.

In this case, the back has some printing and tape stains, among other action. My experience is that you’re usually looking at a 1. If you’re really lucky, maybe a 1.5.

Agreed, especially for SGC. They are generally fairly leniant with back issues. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see that card in at least a 2 holder.
