I looked it up...it appears that Hank Leiber was the first MLB player born in Phoenix. He had quite a year in 1935: 110 runs scored, 203 hits, 22 home runs, 107 rbi's, .331 average, and was 11th in MVP balloting. I am surprised he was not included in any 1936 issues, especially the larger size Goudey Wide or Fine Pen premiums, or even the 1936 WWG set. Definitely a player who is barely represented in card sets despite playing for 10 years between 1933 and 1942.

Here is a 1938 Exhibits card featuring him along with 3 other players that I found on the internet.

Hank Leiber played for the Memphis Chicks at one point on the way up. You know how I feel about that!
