AL East Powers

So far the AL East, considered the best division in baseball has yet to win a game 0-6. What's up ???

Any year without both the Yankmees and Red Sox in the playoffs is a glorious thing, so I woudn't mind at all if the Orioles or Rays win it all. It's just nice to see that you can't always buy your way to a pennant like the Yankees have done for the last...hundred years.

As a Tiger fan, I'm rooting for the Twins! AL Central rules baby!

Why do people say things like "you can't buy your way to a pennant"?

The Orioles tanked their way into the playoffs. Why would anyone prefer to sit through two plus decades of horrible baseball just to say "see we didn't buy our way in"?

Many fans prefer homegrown guys. And if you tank and build up like the Astros and Orioles, you'll have much longer window of contention. Trying to buy your way to a title often ends up like this years Mets and Padres

The 2009 Yankees team had big free agent players, yes, but it also still had the entire Core Four, plus Cano, Gardner, David Robertson, Joba, Phil Hughes, and Melky Cabrera. Most of the bullpen was made up of guys the Yankees had either drafted or made minor trades for.

I'd prefer to build a team rather than purposely be bad for however long it takes. It's not like the Orioles had some grand plan. They were willing to be bad forever until they maybe managed to put together the right 9 guys. That's not a mentality I'd like my owner to have.

Toronto is the biggest shock to me. I thought they would do better from the start of their year with the talent they had, at least on paper and that way for last several years. and they also fail to live up to their potential

Tampa has a strong organization and minor league to feed the pipeline. Tampa to me is the biggest disappointment when you consider how fast they started the year. Very Very dominant and then crashed and burned

Baltimore is playing with house money. They are a year or to ahead of their development and with the young players have the biggest window of opportunity. But recent play entering the playoffs is not up to par. this experience will make them dangerous for next years.

The Red Sox were not meant to be good this year and to me exceeded the low expectations they had and was not expecting them to make playoffs

The Yankees were the biggest hype, had the least depth on the their roster, and have Stanton who cannot run or field clogging the batting order and bases when he actually gets on. Judges carries them when healthy but one player cannot do it all (although Cole was great this year but only goes every 5th day). and even when Judge came back they were only 2 out from a wild card and they dropped like a rock since his return. They were good enough to make the playoffs but did not live up the the hype or even their talent that they had.

Yah the Yankees didn't buy a WS in 2009, ok......

Every post season is a new season. Slates are wiped clean, season W/L records mean not much at all.

A team gets hot at the right moment and that is all that matters. No amount of what happened during the season makes any difference when all teams start out at 0-0 with very minimal games to win in a series and one team gets on a streak.

The Problem

First round bye teams are inactive all week …. puts them at a disadvantage! System needs tweaking …. Braves, Orioles , Dodgers all suffering from this problem.

You forgot to use the sarcasm emoji, because you can't be serious. Yeah, who would want to have their pitching staffs fully rested, their rotation lined up however they want, injured or ouchy players having time to heal, and extra time to scout the upcoming opponent. A recipe for disaster, certainly.

so far the playoffs have some interesting moments and it looks like the Philly vs Atlanta playoff look the best but overall the games and matchups are not exciting to me regardless of the current teams playing or how the teams or playing.

But Clayton is still Clayton in the playoff. Amazing how he is a Great Great Regular season pitcher but the playoffs he is a shell of himself

Funny how the Yankee fanboys are silent on the play Riley made last night, if that was Jeter there would be 3 threads on it and they'd be making a statue out of the f#$k.

What a heads up play to throw Harper out.

Play of the playoffs so far.

Correa throwing out Bichette at the plate was more impressive. Much more.

Lots of great moments in these playoffs so far.

Anyone see Zac Gallen strike out Freddie Freeman last night in the 5th? Probably the most critical point in the whole game. Gave him a knuckle curve right down the middle at 3-2 and Freeman took it.

Definitely an awesome play by Correa......Twins were up 3-0 in the 4th inning.

Riley's doubled off Harper to end the game....and possibly save the Braves season.

Both were great for sure.

and he got Betts to hit into a FC right before that yes.....Gallen pitched great.

Betts & Freeman are a combined 1 for 13 so far. IF the Dodgers win Game 3, Kershaw is back for Game 4, if he doesn't hop in an Uber and bolt for LA 5 minutes before gametime.

I thought Wheeler for the Phils was pitching the game of the Playoffs(and maybe the best pitching performance of the year considering the opponent, situation, on the road, etc.) but he unraveled a bit in the 7th. I thought we were in for a no hitter. He was untouchable until the 7th.

And yes hard to pick from all the great moments so far - the Vlad Jr pickoff by Gray and Correa was another one.

Keep 'em coming boys!!!!!!

The lights went out on the AL East as the power went out.

Perhaps next year

Texas looks real strong thru 2 rounds
