A friend sent this to me. I love it.

Cards have done better than the market often. Just another piece of my financial pie.

Classic
Thanks for sharing. Peace.

Pretty good, though I advise that no one should ever take financial advice from the old mustachioed and top hat wearing Monopoly guy.
Brian (but admittedly, our family played Monopoly where all fines, fees, etc. going to the bank went to the Free Parking space instead, and then that money was distributed to the next player that landed on that space, so please don't take financial advice from me either) |
Haha!
Shared it with my wife and she got a chuckle out of it. Tomorrow I’ll ask if we can empty all accounts on a few cards…

I was curious when the cartoon was published, because I think today it is pretty well accepted that baseball cards have value, so a cartoon like that is not really saying anything more than at least we have art, or rare coins, or any other collectible that has an established market and sometimes (but not always) does better than the stock market.
Based on some quick searches, it looks like it is from March 1, 2007 which was well before the crash. So maybe Bramhall was ahead of the curve, predicting the upcoming bear market and recession! If anything it certainly would have seemed funnier at that time, since the market was doing well and baseball cards were seen as less mainstream than they are now. |
Twenty five years ago I never would have thought baseball cards would gain so much as to be classified as an "investment". Times have changed.

Exactly what I thought in 1988.
