1890 Brooklyn Indoor Baseball Print info needed.
I recently got this Large 8.5x11 print of the 1890 indoor baseball thirteenth regiment game.
What publication is this from? A quick search shows you can buy large black and white prints of this image. However they are black & white, this is a brownish sepia. The prints are also perfectly centered and all of them are missing the date at the bottom. Looks like the Alamy stock image the reprinters are using isn't a complete image. I personally think it is old, but 1890. I'm not so sure. What do you all think? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...260296220d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...835c8e621d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c7f441fa7e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...adc06d1b83.jpg |
Harper's weekly, the march 8 1890 number.
Here's a good scan you can page through -- https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?...446161&seq=206 That looks like a pretty recent reproduction on "parchment" paper, like the faux Declarations of Independence and etc. The originals are on something more like newsprint, or actual newsprint. Maybe late 20th century, maybe even more recent. IMHO. |

Also why is it so poorly aligned and sized? Just weird to do that if your goal was to make copies to sell, you would generally want to make something more eye appealing. Why fake something that is clearly not original in the first place. Just doesn't make sense. I think it's probably at least 60 years old. I also think it was an individual who didn't really know what they were doing. But I'm also not going to ignore the fact it could be a month old. |
