Bat info needed
1 Attachment(s)
A buddy of mine is interested in this. It doesn’t interest me, but I’d like to help him with some info. Does anyone know how many of these Adirondack would supply to each player? My GUESS would be a couple? Do you think everyone on each roster would get however many? What years did Adirondack do these? Finally, H&B/LS didn’t make similar bats, did they? Thanks for any info!

Beautiful bat. I believe H&B issued 2 bats per player for the WS and All Star games. I'm not sure if Adirondack did the same. I would assume they did but not sure.

I have one of the two H&S bats issued to Pete Runnels for the second 1962 All-Star Game, at Wrigley Field. Two All-Star Games wer played each year from 1959 through 1962.

Thanks, guys.

Do any of you have a guesstimate on what the McCovey bat would be "worth"?

bat
Hello. McCovey bats are hard to get a consistent read on when it comes to pricing. Adirondack bats usually bring less in general than H and B's when it comes to pricing a bat. The fact that it shows no use hurts it also price wise. However, being a World Series bat helps it some as well...one of 2 probably made for him. (number on the knob end??) I have seen one early McCovey bat bring about 15K at a Heritage Auction about 6 months ago. John Taube from PSA bats currently has one for sale for 8K. However, it has been for sale for over a year. Can see it at his website. The reason I have a little knowledge on this players bats is because I have one...Hillerich...1965-69...graded a 9. Taube said it was close to a 9.5 but not quite.
I have seen them recently take as well bringing only a couple of thousand dollars at auction.... (perhaps a really good deal) I think with no use and being an Adirondack--this bat would still be an interesting conversation piece for sure. Sorry, I can not really pin down a price for it more...if he decides he wants to entertain an offer on it or has a price in mind that he would feel comfortable with....feel free to put him in touch....thanks. sicollector1954@gmail.com DAVE |
