1936 or 1937?
2 Attachment(s)
Is this a 1936 or a 1937 card?
I have seen this card in PSA slabs also labeled as a 1936 issue. Attachment 587255 However, TCDB has it as a 1937 issue. Was this one of these cards that was issued in 1936 and 1937 with the same image? Attachment 587256 |
I would guess ‘36 since he’s in a Seals jersey.

I found this article which seems to suggest it's actually a 1937 issue.....
https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.co...-pen-premiums/ If 36, it could be counted as one of his rookies. |
All Type 4 (creamy stock), which is what you shared in the original post, are from 1937.

And he does have a 1936 R314 issue, but he’s pictured with Joe McCarthy.
Here’s a link to all of DiMaggio’s earliest cards and photos with dates: https://imageevent.com/derekgranger/...st/joedimaggio And here’s the image of his 1936 R314 (Type 1) w/ McCarthy: https://photos.imageevent.com/derekg...McCarthy_1.jpg |

Yeah, the article that I posted mentions that the McCarthy is the 36 issue and that the portrait gets mislabeled as a 36, even though it's a 37 issue. Actually, the initial photo I posted is from a current Memory Lane auction where it is being billed as a 36. I guess the auction is going by what is on the SGC label. |
Derek, that's one hell of a DiMaggio collection. I didn't know anyone had both Zeenuts with the coupons in tact, not to mention the Pebble Beach card too.

Hi Paul - those aren’t mine. That’s my site (for research) showing the earliest images of each HOFer. Here’s my DiMaggio (not nearly as nice, but authentic):

My jealousy meter just went down. But the one you have is very nice too.
