Psa VINTAGE NEW GRADING STANDARDS

1 Attachment(s)
Apparently (as we all surmised)...the new vintage graders...have no clue, and psa owners couldn't care less Dont know if anyone showed this yet
A hand cut card with 0...thats right 0 black dashes on any of the sides with a numeric grade...is this the new policy....should everyone send in their bazooka post.jello etc cards for regrading...card is in mile high auction just FYI

Awesome. I got some that I better get in quick, before they change back.

Community catch up may take a while,but.........

Stuff like you posted and I posted the other day (https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=339670)

has to eventually negatively affect the brand if it 1) continues and 2) becomes more rather than less prevalent

SUPER frustrating in the mean time.

And people will keep lining up for more.

Not a new thing, AFAIK; just plain old incompetence that happens from time to time.

Quote:

In order for PSA to actually assign a grade to any of the cards that possess visible/defined borders on all four sides, evidence of that border must be present or the card must exhibit virtually-full borders based on the design of the specific issue. If the cut exceeds the visible border for the card in question, PSA will encapsulate the card as "Authentic" only. If the card is severely undersized and suffers in overall eye appeal, the graders may deem the card not suitable for authentication or reject the card as minimum-sized altogether.

Is there a box I need to check on my order to get the incompetent grader? Or does that come standard?

A few months ago I was emailing with a fellow member about a grade PSA had just gave me. He said "wonderful things can happen with an incompetent grader". Holy BLEEP was he correct.:D

deweyinthehall 09-02-2023 07:06 AM

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere at some point, but have any current or former graders ever come out of their bunker to explain the inner workings at any of the big companies - training, competency, pay, working conditions, etc.?

swarmee 09-02-2023 02:21 PM

I remember one guy who was a temp at PSA for like three weeks posted some of his memories on Reddit a few years ago.

Here’s a pic of the card in question. Pretty darn tempting to get mine in now…

Looks like I have some cards to send in...

Here's the 1960 Post Mantle that has been in the #1 Mantle set for the last few years.

Peter_Spaeth 09-06-2023 12:08 PM

There was a Jim Brown (a pretty rare Bazooka) years ago that never should have received a number grade. You would think the graders would be supplied with a reference guide though for issues like this.

Yeah, and PSA is proud of the grading on that card. If you go to their population report for 1960 Post Cereal, that is the card they show.

Truly amazing incompetence and proud of it.
