T206 Ty Cobb red background psa3 vg3 piedmont back

Opinions on selling Ty Cobb t206 red background psa3 vg3 piedmont back? Was thinking of just doing it on ebay if I can not find a better way

Opinion: Selling here on the BST for free is far better than on eBay, which currently takes about a 13% rake

Good Luck and Cheers

Agree - you'll leave a lot of $ on the table with eBay on that big of ticket item.

Additionally, I would speculate that there is a high percentage chance that whoever buys it on ebay is probably also a Net54 member.

The only issue I might see on N54 BST is your "newness" to the forum but I'm sure you and the buyer can work something out that is equitable to both sides.

Leon has always done really great job of vetting new members - so welcome to boards and GLWS - the Red Cobb is a great card.

Yea I am willing to do whatever needed to help my dad make the sale. Just trying to get him the most since he is now retired.

I think you'll find that people here will more often than not try and squeeze you for as low a price they can get you to go. And people will try and convince you to sell here just to make that happen. Just my opinion, take your time and consider all options.

ETA: I have doubts there is any actual card here, seems suspect.

I would also give consideration to sending to an auction house such as Robert Edwards Auctions or Love of the Game Auctions, among others. With a card like that you should be able to auction it off without paying a seller's commission.

Also keep in mind that not all PSA 3s are created equal and some will sell for a slight premium over others based on color, registration, centering, lack of stains, lack of creasing, etc.

Selling here on BST is all good and definitely a good option, but one problem with a fairly inexperienced seller is you have to either roll the dice with an auction here, or list it with a "buy it now" price which can be tricky to price correctly with limited experience and knowledge. I would give consideration to selling here as a live auction, but check with Leon the moderator first or read the threads in the auction section to get the best idea on how to do it.

I have also seen examples where someone offers a card here for sale for X amount of dollars, it does not sell, but then they list it with an auction house and it sells for significantly higher than they were asking outright on the BST. An auction creates that competitive bidding where you commonly see the highest prices.

good luck with the sale

The last 3 recorded sales on VCP average $5960 each and were all major auction houses with a low of $5700 and a high of $6300.

This would be about the best you could expect to get for the card whether on here with a BIN probably at the lower level or in a major auction house with no seller premium.

Of course, as already mentioned, not all 3's are created equal so the actual card could make it more or less than this average.

Piedmont 350 back is a little better which this one was.

I assumed this was the more common Piedmont/Sweet Corporal back as priced in VCP since he did not state 350 or show any pics.

Still figuring this forum out. Sorry I didn't post these in original comment. I will coin them with my name and date on them for anyone who wants.

It is a nice card but it is an older grade so not sure of the actual value it might bring. The crease is pretty detracting IMO and I doubt it would make a 3 in today's grading world. However, it has the 3 grade so who knows? Still, a very good card.
