1931 Tigers Autos - Charlie Sullivan
When I picked up this signed index card of the 1931 Tigers, I was focused on coach — and T206 subject — Jean Dubuc. But then I researched the other players and learned that Charlie Sullivan died in 1935, when a car he was driving was struck by a train. He was just 32 years old.
He only just played Major League Baseball for a few years before he died. So this signature is quite likely to be much rarer than Dubuc’s. Has anybody else ever found a Charlie Sullivan autograph? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...645a9940_c.jpg |
.
I have had four Chas. Sullivan cuts over the years. One team signed sheet, one team sheet cut, one team signed baseball, and one shared autograph album page with John Grabowski (former 1927 NYY and highly desired autograph too). The shared autograph album page was originally offered by Jim Stinson. IMO, Charles Sullivan signatures are not frequently encountered but when he does, it usually is on a team signed sheet or team signed baseball. Thanks for sharing. |

Paul, good news (maybe) is that Jean Dubuc signed 3x5s, GPCs, and cut signatures are floating around in the hobby. While not necessarily plentiful, they are out there and do make themselves available. Unless you require an example from Dubuc's playing or coaching days. Good Luck. |
