First time in Cooperstown, any suggestions?

So I'll be in Cooperstown soon and wanted to see if there were any tips or recommendations that anyone has for the town/area.

Thanks!

Most of the shops are overpriced, I would however reccomend checking out Yastrzemski's. It's owned by a father and son, though the son is there more often. It's a solid spot and reminds me a lot of an LCS back in the day. Baseball Nostalgia, was my favorite in the area, but has sadly closed, as the owners are enjoying a well deserved retirement.

The Hawkeye Bar and Grill in the Otesega Hotel is nice. Perfect for a drink or a meal. The Hotel itself is a sight to behold, it's where the players stay during Hall of Fame weekend. They have a wonderful golf course as well, if you are into golf. If you want more of an outdoor place for lunch, The Lake Front Resturant is nice too. In terms of breakfast, the Cooperstown Diner, is a joy, and very tiny, and Schneider's bakery has some of the best donuts you're going to eat. The Fly Creek Cider Mill is excellent too, just a touch outside of Cooperstown, though.

Check out Doubleday Field, even if there isn't a game being played, still nice to see the grounds. The Fenimore Art Museum, if you're into that as well.

Hope all that helps! Enjoy the trip, the Hall of Fame is a treat.

Went there a year ago, and asked the same question of the board. There were some good tips. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I did.

Thank you! Great suggestions in there!

I have a lot of food allergies and don't drink so I never really look forward to food on vacation. I'll likely check out the lake, Doubleday field, and Yastrzemski's for sure.

It's now been 24 years since I was able to get up there...I'm sure a whole lot has changed.

Back then, they had the Hall-of-Fame game on Saturday and the Induction Ceremonies on Sunday.

I witnessed Gregg Zaun literally call his shot in response to the 'wild' fans in right field. That was amazing!

Sunday, it was 95 degrees...50,000 attended to see Ryan, Brett, Yount, Cepeda, Joe Williams & Nestor Chylak get in.

I'd never seen so many Ben-n-Jerry trucks and porta-pottys in my life!

to me the biggest thing is to take your time and give yourself enough time to go thru it all.

The plays does not appear to be to big. But it has so much stuff and so much to see. IF you go to fast or do not give yourself time it is very easy to miss things.

And try not to buy from the gift shop. Like all gift shops at the end of these places they are over priced and alot of impulse items you will regret as soon as you get in the car

Thank you! I'll be there for 2 days, with tickets that allow me to come and go as I please so that will help in not missing anything.

As for the gift shop I just want a memento, nothing crazy. I usually get a pin or a sticker or something like that.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Day 1 is in the bag and it was a blast! Somehow I’ve spent almost nothing, but I have my eye on a few things for tomorrow.
