Lewis Ginter of Allen & Ginter.

I posted this on the non-sports sister site but wanted to add it here as well. Recently, I had started looking for a Lewis Ginter tobacco card (don't think one exists) as I have started working at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Va. The garden was named after him at the request of his niece, Grace Arents who he left the property to upon his death.

Ginter is of course half of Allen & Ginter, whose tobacco cards we all enjoy. While walking around the facility and in buildings that Ginter frequented, I’ve found some hobby related materials which I’ve shared here. I especially liked the cyclist card of Fred Wood and the baseball cards pictured on the books and videos (sorry for the picture size).

The book and video came from the library on-site and the non-sports cards shown framed and matted are actually hanging in the library.

How cool is it to work somewhere with vintage tobacco cards on display?

As a forever collector working where there are cards on the wall is exactly what I've always done, still do, and likely will continue to do :-)
