What's on your "National Hit List?"
Thought I would share my list as I would love to be able to get just one of these! Most are high end of my budget…but if you don’t look you aren’t going to find!
Curious what everyone might have their eye on to try and find at the National that is on their "Hit List". I hope to get a chance to meet a few of you as well. I will be there on Wednesday and leaving Saturday morning. **ALL SAM CRAWFORD NEEDS*** Sam Crawford Batting T206 American Beauty 460 Sam Crawford Batting Sweet Caporal 350-460/420 OP (I need a T206, Drum, Uzit and Lennox but who are we kidding here ) Sam Crawford Throwing T206 Old Mill Sam Crawford Throwing T206 Sovereign 1910 Orange Borders Sam Crawford 1909 Crofts Candy 1908 Detroit Free Press Postcard W555 Strip Card 1909 Topping and Company Postcard 1910 Nadja E104-3 1910 e105 Mello-Mint 1911 Helmar stamp 1911 e94 (any color other than Red or Green) 1916 Ferguson Bakery Any T216 1916 Tango Eggs M101-4 and M101-5 with sporting news backs, M101-4- or M101-5 with tougher backs I don’t own, like Altoona Tribune, successful Farming, Green Joyce, Holmes To Homes, etc. Please share what items you are on the hunt for! Pre war I’m looking for some Diamond Stars as I work on my very low grade set - cards with writing etc are in my wheelhouse Also working on my 1941 Play Ball set - slightly better condition here - more a G to VG set - no major creases or issues.
I’m primarily focused on food issues in post war cards: Hostess panels (down to 8 needed ), Kahn’s all sports with a focus on 66-68 and 1958 Hires. Also would like to work on 1969 and 1970 Milton Bradley On the high end I’m looking for a 1950 Bowman Jackie Robinson in low grade and a 1958 Hires Willie Mays. Still need Ted and Joe in the 1941 Play Ball. 1950 Bowman football Motley and Graham. At the end of the day I will probably come home with little of this and something I’m not even thinking of now - like the last Chicago national when I bought a lot of about 150 1949 Bowman I would certainly be open to lots of 1939 and 1940 Play Ball, Goudey, 1951 Blue Back, Wheaties, Berk Ross, Kahn’s, 1971 OPC Going back to the “good old days” thread, the best shows were always coming home with a big pile of cards. Overall, with few exceptions, I’m looking for fairly priced cards or “bargains “. I’m not looking to set the market. Time to work this week on making sure my want lists are updated and figuring out what backpack/ bag I’m taking and getting a box or two and some card savers ready. |
T206 Chase blue port Cycle 350 & 460, BL 350 and any other rareback.
T206 Chance yellow port Cycle 350 & 460, Carolina Brights, AB350. T206 Clean Lenox/Red Hindu. T213-1 Chance yellow port |
Chris, I think Sterling has a Yellow Chance Cycle 460 (and EPDG and OM) in their next auction.
I will not be at the National, but I wish all of you fun and good luck hunting for your “hit list” items. |
To quote Richard III, "A Horse, A Horse, my Kingdom for a Horse".

I am hunting for PSA 2-4 of the following t206.
Wajo pitching Lajoie portrait Evers Cubs Baker Mordecai cubs Tinker portrait Tinker bat-on Crawford batting Crawford Throwing I am only dealing in-person until after the show. Anyone looking to sell/trade any of these, please PM me. Would be great to do a live deal. |
For those of you who were looking to catch a ballgame while in Chicago, you could add the White Sox vs. Guardians challenge to your want-list for the evening of July 27. During several of the past Nationals I’ve attended, it always seemed that the home teams were playing away games during that week.
As for my targets, maybe a handful of the horizontal ‘15 CJ cards I still need, to include Gandil, Peckinpaugh, Marquard, Tesreau, Austin and Demaree. |
Not going too far,,went to A.C last year ,,if i did complete darby choclate box,,,ok i can dream
|
Still looking for the last (5) 1916-20 UNC-Big Heads on my list to complete.
Maybe someone here will find one and help me get a step closer. Needs in my signature below. |
Officially taking a pass. Will catch the East Coast National later in the year. 500 tables. That works for me.
|
Same here, Chicago's just too far of a drive for the time I want to spend. Hope everyone has a good time
