You have to love the women's final, won by an unseeded (no. 42 in the world rankings) left handed tattooed Czech player whose best surface isn't even grass. So improbable.

This is how it has been with women's tennis for some time now. The top players haven't had the consistent dominance we've had from Nadal, Djokovic, Federer (and soon, Alcaraz, I think)

True, but the craziest part of this is Marketa is considered a clay court specialist. LOL.

That is odd!

I'm really looking forward to the men's final. Who do you think wins?

Me too but that's what I said before their French Open matchup too...

2-10 on grass prior to this year.

From ESPN:

She had such low expectations for herself at what she considers the most famous of tennis tournaments that she had her husband stay at their home in Prague to watch their cat instead of attending the event in person to cheer her on.
:D
Pretty remarkable run. Good for her.

Good story and good for the sport

After the quarters they found a cat sitter lol. Hysterical. It reminded me of the guy a few years back who assumed he'd be gone in the early rounds but then had to reschedule his wedding because he kept winning.

Thanks for that, Frank...just when I was going to say how repulsed I am by tattoos - glad I held my tongue*.

- said the ole curmudgeon.

*-but even gladder, my tongue isn't pierced.

In case nobody noticed, a dramatic five set men's final today between the greatest player of all time and the greatest player right now. Epic.

This years Wimbledon was one of the better for upsets, story lines, and dramatics
