Is it actually possible? "1948" Leaf Babe Ruth autographed
There is a PSA 6 autographed example on the pop report. Is this card even possible???

I hear Ruth was such a prolific signer, he took a pen to his grave to continue satisfying the public's demand for his autograph.

Most likely Mrs. Babe Ruth Signature.
She signed some of his 1962 Topps cards and they show up on psa pop report as a signed card too. |

I'm pretty sure they know at PSA/DNA that the 1948 Leaf issue although copyrighted 1948 was not distributed until 1949 based on available info. However, I guess if the pop is correct, it is possible the cards were actually printed before Ruth's death in 1948 and someone in the Leaf Company had access to both the cards and Ruth while he was still living and got one signed. I would say a very, very long shot but maybe possible if the pop is correct. Or, PSA/DNA just blew it and authenticated a good forgery. Also, likely a long shot. My bet is that the card does not exist. |

Hi Scott This is impossible. This is an example where the grading companies are wrong in identifying this BB card set as anything other than a 1949 issue. Babe Ruth passed away on Aug 16, 1948. The 1949 LEAF cards were 1st issued in the Spring of 1949. http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...beruth49_1.jpg . http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...abeRuth25b.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |
I was under the impression he was included in the set because he passed away
