Opinions on if this is a likeness of a MLB player?

Jokes are fine BUT just curious if anyone has an opinion on if this pinback button is a likeness of an actual major league player?

I've ruled out Wade Boggs since the paper back and the collection this came from dates this button to the early 1900's to the 1920's. :)

Joke #1 out of the way.

Please let me know what you think. It is currently not for sale. Thanks!

I dunno if I'd say it's him, but this particular pose was very popular with Jimmy Foxx.

A bit like Hornsby but it’s a left-hander

Thanks!

Thanks to both of you! Maybe they did a reverse image likeness to avoid having to pay any royalties?

Thanks! Mike

The image looks like it was rendered from a photo but hard to tell. Nice piece.

Probably a bit too generic, for an id, unless an identical photo of some type is found.

I think it's a generic player

Probably generic to avoid royalty fees, but it may have been loosely modeled after the original Goose.

That's a pretty damn good match!

Agreed. I saw a few pics of Speaker and Sisler that were close but Goose looks spot on however my hunch is that it is generic.

Not to hijack the thread but to keep the theme going...any thoughts if this image was based on any player or just generic? This is a leather postcard from 1906.
