Players you just can't keep straight

For some reason for me its always

Bob Feller and Warren Spahn

Don't know why, always muddle them together.

Chris-Counts 06-01-2023 02:53 PM

I'm having a devil of a time sorting out three contemporary players, Nathanial Lowe, Brandon Lowe and Josh Lowe.

BobbyStrawberry 06-01-2023 03:01 PM

Tyler Wells and Taylor Walls.

philliesfan 06-01-2023 03:31 PM

I have no idea why but.....Anthony Rizzo and Joey Votto.

brianp-beme 06-01-2023 03:52 PM

Nap Rucker and Ed Reulbach...perhaps because they were both 'R' pitchers prominently featured in many 1910 era sets together.

I tend to mix this group up....a lot.

Hal Smith and Hal Smith, both played for ten years concurrently in the late 50s and early 60s. Both were catchers. They were both only special to their mothers.

AMPduppp 06-01-2023 08:06 PM

George Burns, George Burns, and, on the non-baseball front, George Burns.

Some GM of one of their teams should have seen the unique opportunity and traded for the other.

The Bob Millers

Ashburn and Roberts. One batted lead off the other a pitcher

When I was kid, I was convinced that the actor Ken Berry and the outfielder Ken Berry were the same person.

On the all baseball front, I do not do this, but I have seen Babe Herman and Billy Herman get confused by auction catalogers who forget which one of them is in the Hall of Fame (it's Billy).

Been known to confuse Dizzy Dean and Dizzy Trout in conversation, which is odd because one was an almighty Detroit Tiger. Bourbon doesn't help if it comes into the picture as well, lol.

This is mine too for whatever reason.

darwinbulldog 06-02-2023 07:43 AM

In (relatively) more recent years I would mix up Eric Davis and Barry Larkin.

The Detroit Collector 06-02-2023 07:47 AM

Chief Bender and Chief Meyers

Logan Allen and Logan Allen

Cleveland has a lefty pitcher named Logan Allen. Last year they had a different lefty pitcher named Logan Allen. The only reason I know this is that every year I add baseball cards to my collection of players I acquire for my fantasy team (silly I know but I've done it for football and baseball for 43 years). Anyway, I was watching a Guardians game a week or two ago and when Logan Allen was on the mound he looked nothing like the guy on the Logan Allen card that I had added to the binder a day or so before. I did a little investigating and found that there are indeed two of them, both lefties and both Florida natives.

I had trouble with the Alex Gonzalezes. Both weak-hitting shortstops from the late-90s to early 2000s.

The Jeff D'Amicos weren't doing me any favors either, but at least one of them only pitched a handful of innings.

EddieP 06-02-2023 10:23 AM

Frank and Brooks Robinson.

Ruth and Ohtani.

Doolan and Dooin mess me up every single time.

Exhibitman 06-02-2023 12:23 PM

Donlin, Doolin and Dooin.

Could be worse. I once had a case where the plaintiff, defendant and one of the cross-defendants each was named "Liu". We eventually decided to use first names at depositions and hearings because it just got impossible.

Sounds like you did well to use first names in liu of last.
