The Collector Connection Pre War Auction VIII CLOSES TONIGHT!
www.thecollectorconnection.com
Auction is up and running. A little smaller than usual at about 550 lots, but some real amazing stuff starting with this bad boy: https://thecollectorconnection.com/i...77_1_92014.jpg One of only ten NM 7's on the combined PSA and SGC Pop Report with only one 7.5 and three 8's higher. Compare that to the same pose in the regular Goudey set where there's 53 NM 7's and 53 more higher than a 7 including some 9's and it becomes obvious how much tougher these are. Also over 100 lots of T206's and some great "bargain" Cards of Wagner, Cobb, Young and other HOF'ers with gorgeous fronts, but with back damage: https://thecollectorconnection.com/i...85_1_92622.jpg And as always a great assortment of oddballs and rarer items including a cool selection of Jesse Owens cards, games and trade cards back to the 19th century, autographs, publications and two of the cooler tickets we've ever handled, 1937 All-Star Game (Gehrig's last HR in an All-Star Game) and 1939 All-Star Game (Joe DiMaggio's first HR in an All-Star Game) https://thecollectorconnection.com/i...01_1_92641.jpg Auction ends 6/4 so make sure you check it out! |
Wow. That Babe is amazing.

As usual nice selection of items for auction
Good Luck to the Consignors and bidders |
Just a great Ruth card. Scott, is that the best card you've ever auctioned? Is there a cool story to go with it, like having to drive to pick it up, waiting for the grade to post, convincing a reluctant consignor to go with Collector Connection? I always love the stories behind the cards we collect.
What would you say are the best five cards you've ever auctioned? |
It certainly has a chance to beat our record. We had a freshly graded (most cards we get in are raw and we grade them for the consignor) 1952 Berk Ross Mantle in PSA 8 that's an insane grade for that card and we've had a few 1952 Topps Mantles. We also brought to market the first (and still only) known example of a 1909 Rose Post Card Cy Young with the sticker added to cover the Boston AL since he had been traded to Cleveland. Again came to us raw. Now owned by a board member. Those are the ones that stick out. Oh and an autographed George Mikan Rookie I found in the bottom of a Tastee Kake box full of junk wax era baseball, not even in a sleeve on a house call.
The Ruth was just my advertising dollars at work. Consignor saw one of our print ads. It actually came graded from the original owner's family in Canada, so new to market one owner card. Believe it or not this card is their "test run" and if it goes well I will be getting some other amazing items. |
Hope you get the rest...even though that Ruth is not in my wheelhouse!!!

Got my bids in.. Looks like a nice auction.

One week left closes Sunday 6/4. Surprised with how hot tickets are that the two all star game stubs are stilll cheap. They can't be very easy to find.

Well I could say "behind where we expected them to be at this point" but that seems long-winded.

We are on an east coast consignment run starting June 12th in Fort Lauderdale. We bounce around Florida and Alabama a little bit and then up the coast. If you are thinking of consigning give us a call!

Closes Tonight!!!
