Nolan's Texas Rangers gamers were all Goodman and Sons, not Rawlings, FWIW.
I hope this helps! |
Thanks guys! Good to know.

How's it going? Thanks for showing that picture of Nolan wearing the Rawlings jersey. I'd love to know the context of when this photo was taken. I would suspect this photo may have been taken in Spring Training if he actually wore it. It certainly is a bit of an anomaly. Since the 1980's, it's a known fact that Nolan has always preferred Goodman and Sons uniforms for actual game use. I have collected game used Nolan Ryan equipment for years, FWIW. I do know that I personally would not purchase any Rangers Rawlings jersey that was being sold as a gamer. |
Hi Scott!
Hope I find you doing well. You’re correct! The photo is on getty images (1990) and it was taken in Spring Training ⚾️ Rangers - PORT CHARLOTTE, FL - UNDATED: Pitcher Nolan Ryan #34 of the Texas Rangers pitches during spring training in the 1990s in Port Charlotte, Florida. MLBCollectors.com shows the Rangers wearing Rawlings jerseys from 1989 to 1991.

You are absolutely correct. Other Rangers absolutely did wear Rawlings during this era, but Nolan wore Goodman and Sons only on the days he pitched to the best of my knowledge. |
Follow up question if you guys can weigh in…
Found this one for sale at a local card show: has some signs of wear. The seller got in a purchased collection of game jerseys and didn’t know much about the origins, tags have been torn off (is that a red flag?) , is there any other way to validate it? The back has Ryan #34 Inside collar: https://www.sportscollectors.net/photos/919041.jpg https://www.sportscollectors.net/photos/919039.jpg https://www.sportscollectors.net/photos/919038.jpg Thanks again for any input. |
Don't think for one minute that an equipment manager is above sewing a psudo-Rawlings label onto a Goodman jersey. Seen stuff like that before...
