Seller verification
Anybody make any deals with - Frank Moore <moorefrank667@gmail.com>?
He sent me an email offering to sell me something I am looking for - but I cannot verify him. Thanks! |

He claims he is not a member here. But he saw my wanted ad.

and a card not associated with anything... |
The look on Goslins face says it all, "why deal with anybody whose not a member of Net54?".
|
Whatever you do, if you do deal with him, make sure you use paypal g&s with a credit card. Protect yourself.
Also a picture of the card on today's paper with the date showing might not hurt. |

Sent an email. Common denominator to every scammer last few months on here. If Leon or a long time member can’t verify him , forget it. Remember people have been impersonating members also. I rarely deal outside net54 message systems especially a first time deal.

IF you see a person has 50+ posts and/or they have been on here for years, they aren't a scammer. They, or anyone, can always do a bad deal but they aren't a new scammer/troll. And a card from the BST, it's a great place to trade! Keep being careful!! |
no deal
Thanks for the responses. I walked away from the deal - too many red flags.

Rich since you placed the "wanted" ad
anyone responding should send you the card(s) prior to your payment. |
uh.....no.

Ryan that's how I've always done it.
If a seller posts an ad here or in a trade paper selling cards, I always pay 1st. If I'm the seller or I put a want ad for what I need, they send it 1st. Guess I'm in the minority |
I'm not sure why putting a wanted ad would change the usual practice of the seller waiting to be paid. That said, like others, if I know someone I won't wait for payment before shipping.
|
Wow Jay, that’s awesome. I have never heard if that or even thought to ask. As with basically everything in life (at least goods), I always thought payment first.
Well, for everyone on this board, if I sell you a card, I will expect to be paid before I send it! :) |
That is definitely the general rule, but if I have known someone well for years, I ship without getting payment yet.

send before payment
I think that was more prevalent decades ago - at least I know it was with me. Oftentimes people would send cards to a buyer for inspection and approval before payment was expected. At least that was my experience in the 1980s.

Evidently I have been doing this in the wrong way for years. I have been sending cards to unsuspecting recipients, and I then demand payment upon delivery.
In light in this development, from now on I think I will flip the script. I will send a randomly generated amount money to a member of my choosing and require them to send me cards of an equivalent, or ideally, greater value, to fulfill their obligation. Brian |
