I think a much better way to say something like this would be "I would be interested at a slightly less expensive asking price". I'm guessing your not in the market for one of these though. His asking price seems like it's within 10% of where he should expect to be with that color and eye appeal so I find the asking price very reasonable.

OP, your friend has a great card regardless what he decides to do with it!
