1899-1900 M101-1 Sporting News

Hello.
This past weekend I bought my first m101-1 Sporting News Supplement through the REA auction. I can't wait to receive it.
The set from what I've seen online is absolutely gorgeous and is loaded with hall of famers.
I know this is a very rare set. I believe the pieces would only be issued on a single day for each player.
I am trying to learn as much as possible about this set.
Does anyone here have some knowledge of the set? Or have some resourceful websites I can check out?

Thank You

The 1899-1900 M101-1 is a very interesting set. Here is a link to a fairly recent thread about the set along with the closely related National Copper Plate issue:

I took me a handful of years to track this one down for my collection. They are beautiful in hand.

I believe they were issued the same as the m101-2 set, as inserts to the paper.

I agree, seeing these in person really helps one to realize how beautiful they are! I think they are among the most interesting (biographies on the back), beautiful and important (many key Rookie cards including Wagner) sets in existence. Here are the Edward Delehanty from the Sporting News and Dummy Hoy from the Natl Copper Plate version.

Beautiful. What I really enjoy is seeing the date that the Sporting News were issued.

I believe this is considered a Bobby Wallace rookie

Rookie ephemera of Frank "Noodles" Hahn. 1st no-no of the 20th century. Yes, it is trimmed:eek:

A couple of Brockelman pickups. I believe these to be Donlin and Wallace rookies.

Nice pickups. I picked this Wagner up last week- my first M101–1, but really acquired bc it’s Wagner

Nice, Brian. Enjoy those!

Brian - great pick ups! Wallace actually had a National Copper Plate issued in 1898 that lists him with Cleveland. He was traded to St. Louis in March of 1899.
