And the Rose-Colored Glasses Award goes to...

I ran across this listing on eBay and man, you coud hear me guffawing all the way down the street. Talk about positive spin. No creases and not much corner wear??? That's what the viewer should be concerned about??? Nothing else wrong with the card, just some corner wear, but NOT MUCH corner wear, and absolutely no creases. Psst...simply ignore the blizzard apparently hitting Pittsburgh. Photo must've been taken in the winter. :D

I mean, what he said is true!

I love when some sellers post a card and state, "Book Value of $$$$"
Just recently saw a 52 Campy with the top 1/4 of the card missing (paper loss) likely due to being taped at one time that likely isn't worth an 1/8th of that. Or some sellers stating if it wasn't for the corner dings, the scuffing, writing etc, this card would grade high a ten. It makes me chuckle every time. :D https://www.ebay.ca/itm/225462687447...Bk9SR-bS073ZYQ |

There's another seller on eBay who does something similar. Posts a listing for the player's special cards (i.e. league leaders, team photo, etc.) and then touts how the book value of the player's main card from the same set is $1,500, and this one is a bargain at just $500!!! Every time I see his listings, I just shake my head and wonder whether he really believes what he's shoveling. |
Was that photo taken in a snowstorm?

I WAS gonna post the new Roberto Clemente 69 Topps card I got for a fantastic deal........Darren beat me to the post. :D

Hmmm...decisions, decisions...
Attachment 561768 Perhaps the price on the second one is justified, because it is a very good candidate for a re-sub. Maybe getting bumped up to a PSA 10.5 isn't entirely out of the question?? Note to anyone unfamiliar with the set: the last five PSA 10 Fisks went for $70, $61, $49, $49, $46. |

I think what happens with a lot of lazy eBay sellers is that when they list a new item for sale they take a templated prior version and don’t bother adjusting the listing’s key features because that would take additional time and effort.
What irritates me is how many sellers grossly over describe the condition of their listing and the seller still has a 100% rating and a 5.0 for accurate description. |
This is what I mean. How is this seller highly rated? I see this over and over again from so many sellers with perfect ratings.

Sort of related to this thread - why do some sellers use the phrase "Set break" when advertising individual cards? As if that lends some gravitas to the listing?
|
It's all BS shtick...no different from used cars, or anything being sold.
But the rule is this: if I have it and try to sell it, it isn't worth crap. But if YOU have it, it's incredibly desirable and worth a fortune. It just is what it is. |

This drives me crazy as well because it wastes my time. I always wonder if the guy really believes his card is the condition he claims. Who knows. A bunch of these suckers have high ratings and perfect feedback as sellers! It’s bizzaro world I guess. I try and ignore it but it’s quite annoying lately especially with 70s cards. I think he just copied the item title for the Mays card from another seller (#334553885681) and didn't bother to edit it.

Hmmm...I'm really in the market for a 1967 Maury Wills PSA 8 OC card, but I'm not sure whether I should buy the first one or pay over five-and-a-half-times as much for the basically miscut second one. Decisions, decisions...
