Lou Gehrig Fan Club Event

I was given permission by Leon to post this ad.

Hello all,
I am a member of the Lou Gehrig Fan Club that has organized on Facebook. We have arranged an event on June 17th, 2023 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of his Major League Debut in 1923. (We know the actual debut was the 15th, but Sat worked better for the event. LOL).

it is being held in the Bullpen theater at the Baseball Hall of Fame. We hope it will be the first of many. There will be three guest speakers, presentations from the Hall including the famous bracelet Lou presented to his wife made up of pins from various awards and World Series he was in. A few members will also be bringing some of their collection to share for the viewing pleasure of the guests. There will door prizes and a raffle of a Gehrig themed painted baseball.(Tickets for that will be available soon. Winner to be announced at the event. Hopefully photos of the finished ball will be available by early May)

Each ticket price includes a donation to ALS Cure project and a discounted 1 yr membership to the HOF and a special Gehrig themed membership card.
Space is limited as we wanted to start small and go from there. At the time of this post 34 seats remain.

All profits from this event will be donated to ALS Cure. We put in a donation into the ticket price to guarantee a minimum donation. If you wish to donate without attending that is available as well.

Please message me with any questions.

This is the link to the tickets with more information.

Additionally, If you are a Gehrig fan and are on Facebook, please consider joining the group. It is free to join, post, and discuss Lou...

Thank you to Leon for allowing me to post this. I hope to see some of you there.
Best,
Mark

FYI: This is a ball I had commissioned and is NFS or trade. The one being raffled is by the same artist, but will have a different design.

I just found that group on FB a few weeks ago and recently joined. From scrolling through old posts of the fan club, it really is a great board. I like how they discuss Gehrig's cards and memorabilia from time to time.

Sounds like a fun event, is there a link that I can just donate to the cause?

Nice choice of images for the ball, especially the 28 Exhibits.

I'm a member of the Fanclub too. Bill, who is an admin, also runs a very ecclectic Facebook group called "Baseball Sheet Music and Other Oddball Stuff." Some of you memorabilia collectors might like that one, too.

Phil,
If you go to the page to buy tickets at the bottom of it there is an option to just donate with attending the event.
Best,
Mark

Sounds awesome! I will try to attend. Need to check family weddings schedule, and there are a bunch of them this summer. Great reason to get back to Cooperstown after a bunch of years. Thaks for passing along.

Never can go wrong with anything Lou Gehrig in it.

One week to go until the event. Next Saturday come and join us in Cooperstown. If you cant make it, please consider sending a donation to ALS cure, the charity that is benefitting from the event.
You can use the link above to either purchase tickets or send a donation without attending. We are hoping to raise $1000 after expenses to donate to ALS and are a little over halfway there.
