Unopened Polar Bear Pack in Heritage - 1931, not 1910

Just a quick PSA. The Polar Bear pack currently for auction in Heritage dates to Feb 9, 1931, and is not a 1910 pack as described. This was part of a small find of Polar Bears many years ago, with all having 1931 cancels. The one currently for auction has the cancel “off cut” such that it’s difficult to read, but when you look at the tax stamp side by side with other unopened Polar Bears from the find, you can clear see the 1931 Feb 9 cancel. Please see comparison photos below.

I informed Heritage of this over a week ago and provided supporting photos, and I was informed on Monday the description would be changed. However it’s now Thursday and still no change, and the auction closes shortly. So, given the number of people here that may be bidding or watching, I felt it prudent to just make folks aware.

As a final note, notwithstanding this Polar Bear dates to 1931, it is highly desirable by lots of collectors and still should command a strong price. However, just be cognizant it’s not a 1910 pack.

I have received the same response from them on items that I reported with supporting evidence that their description was wrong some of them before the bidding even opened but they never changed the description on any of them.

Thank you. That's one that I was watching.

You know what they say.....

Where's there's smokes..... there's fires!

Thanks for pointing that out Jon. Even with the off-cut, I can tell the year isn't 1910. I'm disappointed in Heritage that they would list it that way in the first place and not change it, especially when confronted with evidence.

With all the experienced heads at Heritage's Sports Collectibles, I am a bit appalled that, after all the great sleuthing Jon has done, nobody has taken the time to change the description. Aren't we talking reputations here?

I texted Brian about a mistake in the most recent REA auction. It was fixed within 15 minutes.

Have you tried to contact Derek Grady? If anyone can get the description changed, it's him.

I think it's been taken down now, unless I missed it.

Polar Bear

I was watching it, and Heritage emailed me that it was removed from the auction.
