1972 Milton Bradley Ken Boyer

Hi,

Can anyone verify the existence of this card? I’ve never seen one, and PSA hasn’t graded one, but it’s listed in the Standard Catalog. Thanks in advance for your assistance. :)

Bob

P.S. I have a couple of the ‘69 MB K. Boyer cards without a base on the red “1” at the right of line 9 on the back, so I’m looking for one with a base on the red “1”.

The Cletis Boyer card shows what the "1" should look like.

There were a handful of cards in the 1972 Milton Bradley Checklist for years that were not actually in the 1972 set, I remember Jerry Zimmerman was one and apparently Ken Boyer was another. I have a complete set of 1972 Milton Bradley cards, the only ones that don’t have at least one red based 1 are oddly the Milwaukee Brewers Team card and the San Francisco Giants Team card.

This Huggins & Scott Auction from 2016 shows the entire set.

I'm far too lazy to look through all of the photos in the auction (Where's Waldo.....er, Ken and Jerry). :o

I hadn't noticed that my Zimmerman was also a 1969. Thanks for the help, both of you!! :)

It would make sense that neither Ken Boyer or Zimmerman are in the 1972 set as Boyer last played in 1969 and Zimmerman in 1968. Are there any other players that you see from your 1972 set that had retired in the 1960s?

I went through the checklist and found players that were out of the MLB or the Minor Leagues during 1970 or before the 1971 season, but the only player I found other than Ken Boyer and Jerry Zimmerman that was out of MLB before the 1970 season is Bill White who does have a 1972 MB card. ETA, Tom Tresh is another player who didn't play MLB or in the Minor Leagues in the 70's although the Tigers might have cut him in 1970 Spring Training.
