Identification Assistance!
Can anyone ID this Jackie item? Picture is very commonly used (JJK Postcard, Old Gold). Sizing as shown in images:
Roughly 4 3/4ths by 5 3/4ths...forgot to take a pic of the back but if I recall it's blank. https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...8/IMG_2472.jpg https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...2/IMG_2471.jpg |
The back is blank, confirmed today. Any assistance would be great!

Strange size, obviously it's not an original photo (type 1). Does show some imo, genuine age and wear. No back markings is not the best sign.
However you do have a detail that to me is very intriguing and I think does help in saying this could very well be a premium or picture pack photo of some kind. That being the facsimile auto, this is very commonly done at the time for premiums and picture packs. And I don't know if I've ever seen a copy of an original photo add on a unique facsimile autograph, usually forgers want to copy 1-1. Of course it could also be an '80s printing experiment, and that's likely what others will reply. And that's fair. Though I definitely wouldn't toss it out... Does the back show any natural discoloration indicating it has some age? |
Same photo used in an 1948 Old Gold item, but not the same size (and doesn’t have the old gold logo). I also saw it on a early 50s postcard while searching the internets. A type 3 from ‘48 is on eBay.
Google image search shows some stuff, but no exact match. https://www.google.com/search?tbs=sb...l1yfqLzl-sQhGw |
That's a tough one to find. 1955 All American Sports Council premium. Others in the set known so far include Duke Snider (misidentified as Don Newcomb[sic]) and Rocky Marciano.

Wrong ID, spelled incorrectly. Not a good day for that editor.
