Both Games for Fantastic. Best 2 games of College Football playoffs in any format seen in YEARS and YEARS

Never Thought TCU would be Win let alone Competitive.

And I thought OSU (Really Really Good Team) would not be close with Georgia especially with them always winning by 3 or more touchdowns and a very tough defense

Hopefully the Ga vs TCU game can match these two games

Non targeting penalties really put a bad taste in the mouth of the fans

Timely thread for sure- I'll do my best to be objective so that I have some
ground to stand on, before I get blown out of the water:)

1) Games were definitely entertaining. CFP needed these to be good, given
the relative "down year" in terms of true quality teams.

2) Self-confessed OSU fan here. I do NOT "hate" Georgia (I hate Michigan!).
All 4 defenses were bad and the officiating was bad. Heck, I'll even admit
Michigan got jobbed:) I don't think there's an anti- Big 10 conspiracy, I
think it's ineptitude. The ONLY way to fix these consistently horrible
officiating jobs is next-to-impossible to implement. I think major
sport officials (someone else can define that) in this country should be
required to take the same training at the same time, in order to be
"licensed" to officiate that sport. If a person can't get away from their
primary job for that training, then see you later- go back to being an
accountant, attorney, etc. I also believe a "group within the group" should
be full time officials- not attorneys or accountants. Members from THIS
group would fill the spots for championship/bowl/playoff games (for D1
football in the example) and be compensated accordingly. ALL officials
should be required to continuously educate, just like players have to go
back to practice, win or lose. Too often the suspect officials go back to
their everyday lives with no penalty for consistent poor performance. A
week later, they've studied zero film and had no peer review of their
atrocities, so they are prone to repeat. THIS needs fixed...

3) Specifically within college football, "targeting" needs removed from the
lexicon altogether. It is patently obvious that officials have no
clear grasp on it's meaning, as even replay people routinely mistake it
despite every advantage given not to do so. There has been a penalty
called "unsportsmanlike conduct" for decades. Use it! Dump targeting
(unless, of course, we want to call running backs for lowering their
helmets into defenders' helmets intentionally, which they often do). Point
is, the rule is a joke that's easy to fix- goodbye to it.

4) Not a fan of CFP expansion to 12 teams, too many!

I'm a Michigan alum and I have never liked Harbaugh as a game coach. Yes, some bad officiating, but the game was winnable.

Believe it or not I don't hate OSU and was rooting for them. I do hate Georgia and iis absurdly old quarterback in his what 7th year of college? WTF is that.

Hi Peter- I used to love college football. For a variety of reasons that could undoubtedly occupy a thesis paper, it’s lost its charm ( D1 anyway). Sad really. Trent King

I know what you mean, Trent. For example UM and OSU is just not the same as when it was Bo and Woody, but part of that is probably age and nostaalgia.

Hi Peter- you are being very kind. I've been to a ton of OSU games in
person and pride myself on a willingness to talk about the good and bad
of OSU football. I respectfully disagree regarding nostalgia, though. I think
D1 football's decline is due to 1) money being the driving force 2) scandals
a la Penn State 3) NIL 4) the transfer portal becoming de facto free agency.
The truth is that D1 football is far too much like NFL- and that isn't good.
It's basically ruined:(

I think part of what you say is what I meant by nostalgia, that is nostalgia for purer days when the game was much less about money and business and the players were less like pieces in a corporate enterprise. Now it's just the way it is, although of course on top of that there are specific scandals too.

It was a pathetic game.

Ruined a Great College Playoff season.

Game was over minutes into the game

Georgia was amazing

TCU never showed up

The actual National Championship game took place on New Year's Day.
