OT: Don West passed away

The world of sports collectibles has lost a true icon and a larger-than-life personality.

Don West, the longtime pitchman of sports card packages on Shop at Home TV, passed away Dec. 30 at the age of 59. He had been battling brain lymphoma for about a year and a half.

Was addictive watching them late at night, back in the day.

Always sad when someone passes as there are people that love and care for that person.

As for the Home Shopping card scams of the past… they were atrocious and a lot of uninformed people lost a lot of money to those individuals. No excuses given for those that shilled on those channels.

Rest In Peace. Did he coin the phrase, “Gem Mint 10!” or just make it famous?

But, hey, Kenny almost apologized so it's all good now.

Uggghh...we used to watch him in college after our weekend winnings (usually) and spend half on the show...I still have my minty copy of the first sports illustrated with cards!

RIP Don
