PWCC cold calling
So this is new… two collectors I know got cold calls from pwcc recently asking if they wanted information about their business model.
Anyone else get phone calls like this in recent days? |
No, but I wish they would call me.
|
Not quite. I did get an email eagerly offering terms for purchases from their premier monthly auction. Basically wanted to give me a couple of months to pay for my purchases. Interest free!!
|
I did get a call from PWCC recently about using them for submissions. I had recently sent some cards to REA for their 2 most recent auctions. I guess every bit of our decision making gets shared with everyone else now.
|
I got a call a few weeks ago asking if I had anything for submissions or wanted to take advantage of their vault.
I've only purchased from PWCC once (last year in an auction), so I thought that was odd. |

With at least one exception: Auction Houses will share info on non-payers and consignors and bidders who commit malfeasance (as they should) |

In general, I don't mind cold calls from AH's. (ok guys, please don't all call at once :)).
It's not a great job and I respect people who work. I can't say I have ever done anything with a hobby cold call, but I don't mind them. It shows the AH is out looking for business. Nothing wrong with that. . |

My guess is they are just getting more aggressive trying to get new business or expanded business from the customer active/inactive from their data base from there days at eBay, their existing platform or however they got/bought a data list
|
I received a couple of calls & follow-up emails a couple months or so ago.

Personally I hate the calls and constant emails from AHs, especially the calls. One sends out so many emails I recently blocked them and I like the AH and its owner. |
Sounds like they are a little concerned about not getting as many quality consignments.

I get calls from iconic auctions all the time. Automated messages. I don't remember signing up or bidding with them. I've bid on many pwcc auctions and consigned but never got a cold call from them or any other AH aside from iconic.

I.blocked them, now they call from a private number |
I got a POS $20 Cricket phone from 5 years ago running on 4G. When you lose calling/internet capability whenever you enter a large building, it makes life a lot peaceful. Harder to look up comps at a show, but that's the tradeoff.
|
My simple solution is I almost never answer my phone if the call is from a number I don't know*. If the caller feels it is important, they will leave a message. To me, no message left means it is not important (and I really don't care if the caller thinks it is). If it is really important and urgent, they will likely call back in a short amount of time.
* Sometimes I will answer if I'm not too busy and want to mess with the 'house hunters' that want to buy properties you may or may not own (among other annoyances). |
