1965 Topps Promotional Samples?

Hey all,

I stumbled upon someone who has these “mini” Topps promotional samples from 1965. Roughly 1” x 1.5”

They, like I, have never seen anything like them. Curious if you all have seen something like this before?

My natural instinct is to say some type of fake, but only because I’ve never heard of them.

Thoughts?

Thanks!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...34bd36f096.jpg

I'd like to see our resident expert Dave Hornish here to agree with me but something seems so wrong with these cards.

Stottlemyre is card #550 so why would they even have a promo card for him way before the cards are printed.

Fakes. Somebody made these for multiple years of Topps cards (I remember 1956 coming up before) and they’ve been floating around.

Good to know and thought similar on higher number cards. Thanks!

Made from Topps Surf cut outs. Lemke actually listed them as fakes in the SCD Standard Catalog. It was supposed to serve as a warning about them but I actually think the listing caused some people, like me, to go out an get one as an example. ;) Mine is a 64 Aaron

Strange these are popping up lately. I just answered a question on the b/s/t about these yesterday or the day before. Haven’t seen any of these fakes in a year or two but two threads the same week.

Fate is an odd bird…

Fake as Pamela Anderson's boobs.

"Cards" were cut out of the Surf books that were issued years ago.
