Bill Russell book recommendation?
I am woefully under informed about the great Bill Russell and would love to pick up a great book for some upcoming downtime after Christmas.
I’d love recommendations from the Net54 crowd - anything you’d highly recommend? Am hoping to find something that covers the player on the court and the man off the court. Thanks for any suggestions! Jeff |
As I recall he has an autobiography.
|
The best one I have read is Second Wind: The Memoirs of an Opinionated Man. Tends to be pricey as I think it’s out of print, but if you set a watch on eBay you can get one around 50. My copy was stolen by my son already, lol.

That's the one. He had a much later book about himself and Red Auerbach but it wasn't very good.

'Red and Me: My Coach, My Lifelong Friend' $4.95 on abebooks.
'Russell Rules: 11 Lessons in Leaderships From the Twentieth Century's Greatest Winner' $5.95 on abebooks. 'Go Up For Glory' $11.98 on abebooks. 'Second Wind: The Memoirs of an Opinionated Man' with no dj - $141.13 on abebooks. With dj - $300.00 |

I am now probably going to read up on him also |
Fantastic - thx all… I’m going to buy two now (the 2nd Wind book, if I can find it semi affordable) and also go up for glory)
Thx again and Happy Holidays to you all, whatever you might celebrate! (Christmas here) Jeff |
You can go to abebooks.com or biblio.com to look for books. Used book sellers use both sites. On abe you can sort by lowest price to highest. They also have a good search program: By author only or including book title or part of title.
