Cool card. However, the seller wants $140k for it. That is the approximate price for a ‘52 Topps Mantle PSA 5. Give me the full Mantle!

Yea that is cool, and probably quite rare if not unique. I wouldn't pay 6 figures for it, or even close. But I have no idea what the value of something like that is.

What would a miscut t206 be worth with a tiny sliver of the Wagner on the side?

+1 and good question on a Wags card. That really would be interesting.

I know the story behind that card

LCS owner purchased it from a customer, got it graded, put it in Goldin where it sold for $25K. Word is that Goldin himself won it and flipped it in another auction where it sold for three times what it sold for in Goldin. LCS owner thinks the listing in Goldin couldhave been better advertised, but he still made money.

I don’t remember which auction house, but one of them tried to sell a card of Frank Bowerman with a miscut back as a possible partial Wagner; because on the odd ‘test’ strip Bowerman is next to Wagner (there is no evidence it was this way during actual production). There was a thread here about it.

Best of luck getting $140k for that. Kind of like buying an El Camino back in the day, except I would rather have the El Camino. And every time I say good luck getting that much for that, they do.

It is a cool looking card and would look good in anyone’s collection but I agree with others that price appears over the top.

I collect these errors religiously. I think the LCS owner got a great price and this seller who is likely the one who bought it for 3 times that is commitable. This price is a dream, if it was a 50/50 miscut or even 1/3rd, I would be talking much different numbers. This is just somewhat unattractively OC.

I do like the Wagner thought,I would like to see that auction after the “half-a-Wagner” sale.

Greg, I'm curious which action house you saw the Bowerman in. The test strip does actually match up with one of the plate scratch sheets but the odds of the partial miscut back being Wagner is slim at best.

I haven't been able to find another player with a scratch from the Wagner placement but it would match the Reulbach scratch, from some other information I believe the missing scratch might be Doc White portrait but I haven't found one yet.
