Vintage Fireball baseball signed
4 Attachment(s)
I have another baseball that was my grandfathers. The ball appears to be very old, although in virtually mint condition. It is labeled as Fireball made by Wilson. It is also labeled in two places with Bob Feller signature stamp and the words Bob Feller. It is also signed by apparently Leo Durocher.
I can’t find anything on the Wilson Fireball baseballs, but I’m pretty sure this is in the 1940’s era. Does anyone know anything about these balls? Thank you in advance. |
Unfortunately, I can't help with dating this ball, but to me it seems like it may be more recent than 1940's.
FYI, I would be interested in buying it if you decide to sell it down the line. It would be a nice fit for my collection. |
Circa late 1940s - early 1950s. Ball is typically worth $100 - $125 unsigned and in nice condition like yours. Perhaps an undervalued item, as these are tough to find. The Durocher auto appears to be authentic and not stamped like Feller's.
Kind of an odd combo to find a Feller endorsed ball that's signed by Durocher. Leo's auto is somewhat tough, and I would value this Ball at $250 - $300. Great piece! |
I wonder what the original box looked like? Wilson issued a bunch of player endorsed balls in the 70's that are frequently found in the original box.

So, it looks as though the puzzle on this one is solved. The ball is circa 1948-1950, some marketed by Popsicle! All information suggests they are rare, and I have a genuine Lou Durocher signature on mine.
Thank you for everyone’s input on this interesting ball. |
Nice piece and again I am always amazed at the info and speed of info that is on this forum
