In theory, and I don't know if they exist, but there should be:

Red Crofts
T216 Mino
T216 Virginia Extra
3 back types on the Kotton
And a D303 Mothers Bread

Steve H is an expert on the issue so he could give us a definitive answer.

Good luck on the hunt Peter, it's a fantastic image.

I am hoping some of the ones you listed exist

Peter_Spaeth 11-12-2022 01:56 PM

I'd settle for the most common of backs. :D

(I asked Peter before posting in his thread)

By my count, there are 17 different Matty horizontal cards, 16 of which are confirmed:

D303 General Baking
D303 Mothers' Bread
E101 Anonymous Set of 50
E102 Anonymous Set of 25
E105 Mello-Mint
E106 American Caramel
E92 Blank Back
E92 Croft's Candy black back
E92 Croft's Candy blue back
E92 Croft's Cocoa
E92 Dockman & Sons
E92 Nadja Caramel
T216 Kotton 123
T216 Kotton never go out (aka thin paper)
T216 Kotton not in trust
T216 Mino
T216 Virginia Extra (theoretically possible, no known examples)

Cheers,
Steve

I am not selling any , but out of curiosity would you settle for a nice looking graded authentic trimmed.
Wondering if your son would consider doing a sketch card of the Matty that would be awesome

Not that I don't own trimmed cards LOL, but I cannot see knowingly buying one. I'll show him one and see if he wants to try his hand.

Same here! I saw one of the nicest e92 Dockman Mathewson's at the National this year in AC. Guy wanted $10k and it was probably worth every penny given the recent auction prices over the past 18 months. I can't even remember the grade, but it was so crisp with excellent color. We got talking and I joked that I'd be back after I get my two kids through college and I'd try to fill in my other Dockman openings in the meantime.... he laughed and we agreed his Mathewson probably wouldn't last through the show.....

Good luck in your hunt, a nice 3 or even 4 is noteworthy for any collection!
