T206 Leach with attached card on back
 

Just another fun and interesting card in my collection. This T206 Leach Bending Over card has a section of another card attached that was used to either reinforce a very heavy crease or to bring two separate parts together.

My inquiry is this - what card back is it? Of course I know that the actual card is a Sweet Caporal 350...even I could figure that out. I originally thought the back stiffener/reattacher was a T206 Old Mill because of the parallel black lines seen, but upon comparing it recently, I think the line spacing is off. Is it indeed a T206 Old Mill, or perhaps another T206 back? It also could be from another set, or even perhaps a non-sports card...does anybody recognize it?

I also like the fact that a previous owner updated his uniform to reflect that in 1912 Leach became a Cub.

If I had to guess, I would say one of the black T59 backs. The backs all have the double line boarders, and they would be long enough to fit what is shown.

Multiple non-sport ATC cards have that double line. That the two lines extend across the entire width of the Leach card (longer, if this attached part was laid flat) means it has to be one that is larger in physical size than a T206. T59 may be it; they are a bit bigger than T206's and very common.

It could be something else entirely, but it does look like part of an ATC card.

After some more thought and comparing different backs, I don't think it is a T59. The space from the double line to edge is too wide for a T59. It would fit a T3/T9, T60, or some other larger T card.

It could be from a T59 if the owner took the piece from the side of the card and not the bottom.

I think it's cool that the original owner ruined a different card to save a baseball subject. This person was really a baseball card collector if I ever saw one. ;)

Good possibilities so far. To me it looks a lot like that right border on the T59 card, but as G1911 mentioned, it might be from another non-sport issue. As Andy said, definitely the original owner was a dedicated baseball card preserver.

Since it is somewhat related, for fun I thought I would share a T206 of Gabby Street that has a very partial T206 Griffith Batting on the back. And on top of the Street card it appears that at one time a Sweet Caporal card was stacked.
