thoughts on cutting out inscription before slabbing?

Would love to get people's opinions in regards to cutting out a "To ...." inscription on a high value album page autograph. I believe it can be cut where it is clean/even dimensions and retains the "With best wishes" inscription. Would people rather leave the "To ....," or is there more value/appeal to cut it as long as it doesnt effect the overall item. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you!

I'd rather keep everything in tact, and it's more ink from them, so that's a plus. It will look better presentation wise most likely.

I agree with Brent tho I think we are in the minority at least for modern autographs. Vintage guys may be different. During my IP collecting days at spring training, some stars would personalize everything which I was OK with but the dealers there would always talk about methods to remove the personalization.

I have kept every inscription on every autograph I have ever bought just because it's part of the item . At one time I had in my collection a couple of thousand autographed items on every medium you can think of from 1869 up to the present. The inscription never detracted from their appearance or the price if I sold it . So I say don't alter the item .

Just wanted to chime in. I have over 2000 autographs and have never modified any from the original, just a matter of preference. If it's something you're going to retain and mount, do whatever appeals to you the most. However, if you're looking to sell it, I think I would leave it "as is". You can always cut it off later but can never reattach it.

If selling, I would cut the personalization out. Otherwise, leave it as is.

Thank you everyone for chiming in! I think I will keep the album page together for now based on the feedback:) - Andrew
