spotting shellacked cards

what are tell tale signs? I know the card will be marginally darker toned and appear glossier than an original, but are there other things to look for? The card in question if it is shellacked is so very subtley so as to be hardly detectable. Thanks

It was this card btw:

If it has been shellacked or reglossed, on the rough edge you'll probably see gloss over lapping the fibers sticking out. If there's enough it will make little webs between the sticking out fiber and the rest of the cardboard.

This is from a different hobby, but is about a very similar issue. The examples shown are somewhat extreme, but illustrate what to look for about as well as possible.

I don't recall seeing a reglossed card that wasn't extremely obvious.

In general, cards have had some very basic and not so well done alterations.
I'd love to see some of the ones found by the guys on blowout to see if I can spot the problem in hand, but they were usually way too expensive.

At the international show in 2006 one of the big stamp authenticators had a display of altered stamps of all kinds... Most were nearly undetectable, some truly amazing work even if it was scummy as anything. But the good news was that they'd all been caught by the expertizers or they wouldn't be in the display.
