FS - 1887 Buchner Gold Coin (N284) John Clarkson (HOF) SGC 60

Offered here is a great card from a very difficult set.
While certainly not as popular as the N172 issue, this is one of Clarksons rookie cards. PSA & SGC together have graded just 8 of these Ball at Chest versions. There is a PSA 7 out there somewhere but other than that one, this is the highest graded on record. It is not often that a quality version of a scarce rookie card of a 19th century Hall of Famer is available. See images below. PM with any questions or requests. Price? Mike--Are you sure that is the ball at chest version? Ball at chest usually implies the ball is in both hands at mid-chest. That pose looks like a ball in right hand chest high pose.

Hi Jay,
I do think that the card offered here is indeed the Ball at Chest version. The other variant in the set for Clarkson is the Arm Outstretched. I have added an image here of what that looks like. Gr, Mike |
The 2006 SCD called them "ball at chest" and "arm outstretched", but Old Cardboard calls them "ball near waist" and " arm outstretched". Lipset called them "Clarkson Pitcher Chicago" and "right arm extended, left arm near side". I combine these and call them ball at waist, ready to throw and arm outstretched, throwing no ball visible. Nice card.
