Any Info Needed: New York Train World Series Scorecard
Hi Folks,
I'm looking for any information you all might have on this Train Scorecard (I do not own this). I'm assuming it was given out after each few innings with updated scores? It Doesn't seem like it was designed to be filled out by the passenger. It almost seems a new card would be needed after each inning. Some questions I have: How did it work? Who filled it out? How many of these exist? Does anyone know what year it's from? Were they given out on other trains from different states? Does somebody have one? Thank you, Lucas https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ac333914d8.jpg |
That's pretty interesting!
I don't know anything about them, but here is one filled out: https://www.icollector.com/World-Ser...Card_i10513058 From what is stated on the card, and that it is typed to fill, it look as though this may have been something picked up at various stops and provided to passengers to give them updates on the game as the travelled. And it looks like my speculation on purpose is shared: https://goldinauctions.com/ny-centra...o-lot2806.aspx |

Posted the image on the Facebook Group "New York Central Railroad Fangroup" and got these responses so far.....
"These cards were given to conductors at station stops, all filled out, so the conductors could announce the details to passengers on the train. There were no cell phones then ..." "Used on the 20th Century. Passengers could get the scores from the conductor." A “perk” for passengers traveling in the afternoon. (The Century departed after the game was over)" |
