Homerun Trivia #1:

One year four future Hall-of-Famers were either first or second in the Majors in homeruns.

Who? When?

Not terribly difficult (certainly not up to Frank's standards), but I thought it was fun to see.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, I think it is 1948 when Johnny Mize and and Ralph Kiner tied for the league lead with 40, and DiMaggio and Musial tied with 39 Home Runs?

That was a great one. And great reminder about history

Thanks

That is not the only year it happened. In 1929 the top 4 in both leagues were future Hofers. Ruth, Gehrig, Simmons and Foxx in the AL. Klein, Ott, Hornsby and Wilson in the NL.

I could be wrong, but I think the purpose of the question was to highlight that in 1948 the top two tied (with 40 HRs) and the next two also tied (with 39). I don't know if the ties at to the top has happened before, especially with all Hall of Famers.
