Topps stamped T206

Has any one seen these. Ruins the card. Makes no sense to me, 1 of 1. 😒

I've seen cards like this from Topps before, although I hadn't previously seen this particular example.

To me, it's only slightly different than a card with a backstamp. It adds something that appeals to a subset of T206 collectors.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get one.

I definitely don't condone what Topps has done.

I wouldn't pay much more than a non-stamped card.

Having written all that, I would probably pick one up if I saw it and the price was reasonable. Problem is, I doubt the price would be reasonable...

If it helps get a few young collectors away from the shiny stuff and on to the vintage road, let Topps sacrifice a few T206s.

There is that one huge point of redemption floating in a sea of negativity.

is that a plate scratch on the back?

Paging Pat R

Yes it is (number 1). 1, 3 & 5 line up for a triple vertical scratch on Donohue.

That is horrible! Topps could have easily done what they did back in 2002 and 2003 when they released the Topps 206 and 205 sets, and inserted actual T206 and T205 cards in those special, regular card-sized holders. They could have printed the 1/1 designations somewhere on the holders then, and not deface the actual vintage cards they are including with sets today.

At least these stamps aren’t covering players’ faces, like similar treatments Topps has given to vintage buyback cards.

Agree, but still wonder why they see the need to literally deface 100+ year old cards.

I think Topps started doing this in 2020.
